Mort Schwartz is a founding partner of Schwartz Advisors LLC. He is one of the most accomplished executives in the automotive Aftermarket.
He is the former Chairman and CEO of Strauss Discount Auto, Import Parts of America and Chanslor & Lyon. Mort was one of the early advocates for bringing in import parts into the United States and was involved in the creation of the Worldparts brand that was sold to WDs across the country. Mort also led a roll up of import parts WDs to form Import Parts of America.
Mort has served as director of WORLDPAC, Illinois Auto Electric and Office Depot, and also served as a director of venture backed automotive, retail, software and manufacturing businesses. He is a past Chairman of the Automotive Parts and Accessories Association, the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association and the California Automotive Wholesalers Association. He is a founder of the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium.
Mort was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in October 2008. Other awards include AWDA Man of the Year, MEMA Triangle Award, APAA Executive of the Year, AWDA Martin From Lifetime Achievement Award, ASC Presidents Award, Northwood Automotive Education Award and Automotive Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award.
Mort served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and taught at Rutgers University. He earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Industrial Engineering from New York University. He was the recipient of a Doctor of Laws honoris causa from Northwood University in 2007.
